My name is Briana, but I prefer to be called Bri or SAGE. I'm 18 years old and this is my first year in college at Buffalo State. I'm an only child and I don't come from a large family and the people I do call family are the people who show up the most for me. I've always been a trailblazer since I was little. To me a trailblazer knocks down anything in their way to get where they need to be. That's how I know I'm going to be successful in my life because I don't and won't let anything stop me from getting what I deserve. Whether it's a certain grade, or a spot in a fashion show, my creative mind is always brainstorming. I’ve always enjoyed learning and keep myself open to different experiences so I can grow. Being here in college is a huge step for me because I made this decision myself and I’m here because I feel I may learn the most valuable tools to carry in my life, here. My whole EOP experience was enough to confirm that I belonged. As a college student I want to continue to challenge myself and my abilities. Right now, I am mostly focused on discipline, prioritizing my needs and goals, and taking care of my mental health. This is all new and different, so I am also working on patience. I create success by setting certain goals for myself and following through to achieve. I have large ones, but the small ones are most important to me at this moment to get to the larger ones. I’ve turned my dreams into reality this way. This year I released my first song with my friends and later released my first debut release. Since then, I’ve released 2 more in September and I’m working om upcoming projects. I’m steadily working and improving my craft because I love music and I have a story to tell through it. My voice is extremely powerful and important to me and use it to be a change agent in my community. I’ve learned that I’m here to help others heal and for the most part, I am very open when I speak. When I sing and write songs, I tell a story. The songs I make help me talk about my feelings and connect to myself, while helping others connect to themselves too. People have told me how I’ve inspired them to do that one thing they’ve always dreamed about. My advice will always be to do it! It also feels good to know that my braveness encourages others. My kindness is enough to help someone, and I
know that, so I am intentional about my actions. It truly makes me feel good to help others. My senior quote was “be the change you want to see in the world” because I feel like that quote defines me.
