EOP's Freshman Mentoring Program is an extension of the EOP Summer Program to assist freshmen in their academic and social transition from high school to college during their first year at Buffalo State.
The Mentoring Program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association’s International Mentor Training Program. All freshmen are assigned upperclassmen mentors who are trained to assist students and provide extra support and guidance, in conjunction with the mentees assigned EOP counselor.
There are approximately 15-24 mentors, all EOP students, each having a caseload of 5 or 6 students. The goal of the program is to not only to assist freshmen with social and academic transition, but also to encourage involvement of the upperclassmen with the program and to provide leadership opportunities for their growth.
