My name is Adedamola Odubiyi, and I am an EOP senior at Buffalo State University. Currently, I served as a first-year mentor for EOP freshmen. Both my parents were born in Nigeria, and I speak Yoruba which is one of the languages spoken there. I have two younger brothers. Simi lives in New Jersey with my mom and grew up differently. Sola is the one I go to when I need advice, he is truly genuine and mature for his age. We don’t talk to each other all the time, but when we do it feels like no time has passed. For most of my life, it hasn't been smooth sailing, but I haven't taken anything for granted. Being able to study in another nation for 3 years (Nigeria) and come back a better person than when I left, makes me proud of the challenges I have overcome. My love for people has made me a strong agent in my community. I love to love people and I pray for nothing but the best for all I meet. I am proud of who I am, who I am becoming, and what I will become. These last 4 years of my life in college have really opened my eyes to the beauty of school and how I plan to shape my future, although I am not 100% sure what awaits I feel confident. What I know for sure is that t I wouldn't be where I am right now without the help of EOP and all the staff. I see nursing school in my future and internships ahead. I am very excited to be here and think about how to help people and bring the best out of individuals in the days to come.
